Pluma Lodge
Explore the Core Waters of the Pluma Basin
The Pluma River system runs parallel to the Mosetenes mountain range and forms one of the most diverse watersheds in the Tsimane region. The river includes a mix of freestone structure, braided channels, and headwater sections that change character across elevation.Water in the system ranges from broad, more open sections with slower currents to steeper, rockier stretches upstream. These variations create different fishing environments within the same drainage, with access to multiple river types over the course of a week.
Golden dorado are the primary species found throughout the system, along with pacú, yatorana, and surubí. Fishing is conducted across multiple rivers within the watershed, including the Pluma, Itirizama, and lower Sécure systems.

Why We Go Here
Pluma is positioned within one of the most extensive river systems in the Tsimane region, where multiple tributaries, headwaters, and freestone sections come together in a single watershed. The system supports a wide range of water types across its length.Golden dorado are the primary species throughout the system, with pacú and yatorana also present in various sections of river. These species are distributed across different environments, from clear tributaries to larger, faster-moving channels.
The lodge also serves as the operational base for heli-fishing access, which expands the reach of the program into additional remote rivers within flying distance. This combination of river variety and extended access defines the Pluma system within the broader region.
