- Anglers primarily target the legendary sea-run brown trout of the Río Grande. Average catches are around 12 pounds, with fish exceeding 20 pounds landed regularly and occasional specimens in the 30-pound class. Resident brown trout and occasional Atlantic salmon can also be encountered.
- Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?
- Guests are welcome to bring their own rods, reels, and waders, but Kau Tapen provides high-quality rental gear and a well-stocked fly shop. Flies, leaders, and tackle are available for purchase on site.
- What is the best time of year to visit?
- The season runs from late December through mid-April. January through March offer the most consistent conditions and the largest sea-run browns.
- Are meals included in my stay?
