Adding a swivel between the tapered section of your leader and the tippet allows the tippet and fly to spin without twisting the rest of your system, resulting in smooth, tangle-free casting all day long. Swivels are also useful in long indicator leaders used in stillwater. By adding a swivel, the angler can add weight and also create a Òstop- perÓ for a dropper leg and fly to rest on after a fish has taken the fly.
