SDF means Sealed Drag Freshwater. SDF reels are scaled down versions of the SDS Sealed Drag Saltwater reels. SDF reels feature a stainless steel / carbon fluoropolymer drag system. SDF reels feature a massive drag adjustment range and almost zero start up inertia.
SDF reels are easy to convert from right to left hand retrieve, have a large arbor, have a drag range from zero t0 10lbs, and employ a quick change spool. All Abel reels are designed and machined in the USA. SDF 4/5 reels weigh 5.02oz and hold a 5wt line and 75 yards of backing. SDF 5/6 reels weigh 5.42oz and hold a 6wt line and 100 yards of backing. SDF 7/8 reels weigh 5.63oz and hold a 7wt line and 145 yards of backing.
