• Most itineraries can be completed within a single day of travel via Qantas Airways.

• Once in Weipa, all transfers and local transportation are included as part of your trip.

Important Information for International Guests

• All non-Australian citizens must have a valid Australian visa to enter the country.
• New Zealand passport holders may apply for a visa upon arrival.
• All other passport holders, regardless of age, must obtain a visa before departing for Australia.
• Australian tourist and working holiday visas can be applied for through the ETA App or the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
• Visa approvals can take up to 30 business days in some cases, although many are approved within a week.
• Guests are strongly encouraged to arrange visas well in advance of their travel dates to avoid delays or complications.

What makes North Mapoon one of Australia's premier saltwater fly fishing destinations?

Located at the northernmost tip of Australia, North Mapoon offers access to more than 100 miles of remote coastline, 11 rivers, and extensive river flats. Low angling pressure, diverse habitats, and healthy fish populations create one of the most varied and uncrowded saltwater fisheries in the world.

What species can I expect to target during the trip?

Anglers regularly target Indo-Pacific Permit (T. anak), Giant Trevally, Golden Trevally, Queenfish, Barramundi, Giant Herring, Mangrove Jack, Tuna, Cobia, and Spanish Mackerel. It is not uncommon to encounter more than 30 species over the course of a week's fishing.

What is the fishing setup like?

Fishing is conducted from dedicated fiberglass skiffs with a two-angler-to-one-guide ratio. Each day anglers explore a variety of flats, river systems, creeks, and bluewater environments before returning to the mothership each evening.

What are the accommodations like aboard Freedom?

The 64-foot Freedom mothership serves as a comfortable floating basecamp featuring fully air-conditioned guest rooms, onboard Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a spacious interior lounge, and outdoor entertaining areas. Guests enjoy six nights aboard the vessel along with fully catered meals and non-alcoholic beverages.

How many anglers are hosted on each trip?

To maximize fishing opportunities and maintain a personalized experience, each departure is limited to just four anglers. This small-group format allows guests to fish productive water with minimal competition while enjoying attentive guide service throughout the week.

Booking Conditions

• A 50% deposit is required to confirm your reservation.
• The final balance is due approximately 90 days prior to the trip departure date.
• Deposits are non-refundable unless a replacement guest is found.
• Once the final payment has been made, it is non-refundable unless a replacement guest is found by the guest.
