The large (3.5 ounce) jar lasts a long time. This product makes a clear, relatively fast drying, flexible coating that will not crack. Period. This is a personal favorite for application over nail knots that secure braided butt loops on our fly lines and tips. We can coat the knot and it will dry enough to put in a tip wallet in less than an hour. It penetrates into the braided mono very well but makes a flexible bond rather than a hard spot in the mono. This product will thicken up pretty fast but we learned that it functions well when it is quite goopy and down to half a jar, so it lasts a long time. Do not use this product on foam. Try dipping the base of turkey quill wing sections and letting them dry before tying in for Muddler wings. Try dipping 1/8î of the base of a cock hackle wing in Softex and letting it dry before tying wings on hackle wing flies like Silver Hiltons and Intruders. The Softex will keep the base of the wing feather firm and prevent the feather from excessive spreading.
