Whiting Farms Coq De Leon Soft Hackle with Chickabou
Whiting Farms Coq De Leon Soft Hackle with Chickabou pelts provide two types of unique and very fishy feathers. The fist type being a wide webby soft hackle feather that can be used to create large collars (hook size #10 to #02) on steelhead, salmon, saltwater and bass flies. The other type is Chickaboo, the maribou-like feathers at the narrow end of the pelt. Much finer and more delicate than turkey maribou, this feather is excellent tail material for buggers, damsel and dragon fly nymphs. Also makes great leach patterns.
The Coq de Leon is the oldest known chicken to be raised for tying material. These are likely your great-great-grandfather's hackle feathers, and for good reason. These feathers have a unique and sturdy quality to them that differs from hackle taken from other birds.
Each CDL Soft Hackle Pelt has hundreds of 2 inch soft hackle feathers and a smaller number of 2 inch Chickabou feathers. Also perfect for feather-craft, earrings, and fashion.
