The Pro Nanotube is inspired from Pro Microtube. The style is similar in that Nanotube is injection molded for exacting quality and used in conjunction with a Pro Hook Guide (Tapered Silicone Junction available in 4 sizes/9 colors). The differences are that Nanotube features a condensed tag or bump on the rear end and a double port. The smaller tag looks proportional on smaller flies and the double port features improved traction w/ the Hook Guide on larger flies and/or the ability to cut off a port for small flies.
Pro Nanotube is in the same family as Pro Flexitube, Pro Microtube with regards to the plastic mix, thick wall that makes these products extremely durable in all fishing conditions, and the ability to use all Pro Sportfisher add ons.
Nanotube in Clear and Black are obvious choices for the new product, but, we did not stop there. Nanotube Sink2 and Sink4 are an industry first where we added tungsten powder in with the plastic mix. The process essentially replaces the weight of hooks and irons in the traditional fly tying world. Of course all of the existing Pro Cones, Pro Conedisc and weighting systems fit Nanotube for ultimate versatility designing flies.
Please note that you will need a Pro Tube Flexineedle to hold the Pro Tube Nano Tube all the Pro Tube tubes. We have worked with all of these products and believe that the Flexineedle is by far the best mandrels for the Pro Tube tubes; the tubes are tuff, durable, and the Inside Diameter is such that it mounts best on the Pro Tube Flexineedle.
The Nano tube by the folks at ProSportfihser System offer the function we appreciate with a lengthy tying surface coupled with use of looped on stinger octopus style hooks like the Gamakatsu hook we so depend on.
Note that all of the Pro Tube Tubefly weights and cones fit perfectly on these Nano Tubes, just as they are compatible with the Flexi Tubes. Complete interchangeability is a good thing, yes?
The tying surface of the Pro Tube Tubefly System Nano Tube is 50mm", and we find that this gives us plenty of room especially when using long wiggly rabbit, craft fur, ostrich, and marabou as the steelhead and salmon enhancers that we tie on these tubes.
Slip the Pro Nano Tube into the Pro Flexineedle, tie the fly with or without Flexi weight or bullet weights, and finish off with a cone or disk head.
To fish this beauty, 1) add a Pro Tube Tubefly System Hookguide on the nubby end of the Nanotube; 2) thread your leader rigged with a double surgeons loop or Uni non-slip loop knot, with an octopus style hook, usually somewhere from a #1 - #4 (salmon or steelhead appropriate); 3) slide the knot into the silicone hook guide; and 4) you are prepared to get the pull, grab, bite, strike or nibble.
We have recently added the Tungsten Powder Impregnated Nanotubes in 2 different weights, Sink 2 and Sink 4. These tubes come with weight already added through the power of tungsten powder. Great way to add a little weight to your fly without having to use the add on pieces.
